The Santa Cruz trek is among the best-known and classic treks in the Cordillera Blanca that every visitor has to do during their stay in the department of Ancash. TRAVEL PROGRAM

DAY 1: Huaraz (3,052 m / 10,013 ft) – Llanganuco Lagoon (3,850 m / 12,631 ft) – Portachuelo Pass (4,785 m / 15,698 ft) – Vaquería (3,700 m / 12,139 ft) – Paria (3,890 m / 12,762 ft)

Hiking time: 5 hours

  • We begin the day by picking you up from your accommodation around 4:30 am, to embark on a scenic route through the Callejón de Huaylas, entering the majestic Huascarán National Park. We visit the turquoise lagoons of Llanganuco and ascend the imposing Portachuelo Pass (4,785 m / 15,698 ft), one of the most spectacular natural viewpoints in the Cordillera Blanca. Along the way, we make strategic stops for photographs and to appreciate the landscape. In Vaquería (3,700 m / 12,139 ft), we begin our trek. Our team of muleteers will load the equipment onto support donkeys as we proceed along a trail with a gradual ascent towards the Paria Valley (3,890 m / 12,762 ft). During this day, you will observe Andean rural life in its most authentic form: shepherds, traditional crops, and high Andean villages.

DAY 02: Paria (3,890 m / 12,762 ft) – Punta Unión Pass (4,750 m / 15,583 ft) – Taullipampa (4,250 m / 13,943 ft)

Hiking time: 7 hours

  • Today we face the most challenging and breathtaking day of the trek. We ascend gradually for 4 hours to the final stretch, where a strenuous 1-hour climb leads us to the iconic Punta Unión Pass (4,750 m / 15,762 ft). From this point, the Cordillera Blanca unfolds before your eyes: Taulliraju, Pucajirca, Rinrijirca, Artesonraju, among other snowcapped giants, stand majestically. The views of the Santa Cruz Valley are simply unforgettable. We descend to the Taullipampa campsite (4,250 m / 13,943 ft), surrounded by glaciers and iconic mountains.

DAY 3: Taullipampa (4,250 m/ 13,943 ft ) – Mirador Alpamayo – Llamacorral (3,760 m / 12,335 ft )

Hiking time: 6 hours

  • We begin the day with a hike to the Arhuaycocha viewpoint, one of the most beautiful spots in the entire Cordillera Blanca. From here, you'll have a privileged view of the legendary Alpamayo, considered by many to be the most beautiful mountain in the world, as well as the snow-capped peaks of Quitaraju and Artesonraju. Then we descend through the expansive Santa Cruz Valley, passing by glacial lakes and impressive rock faces, until we reach our final campsite, Llamacorral (3,760 m / 12,335 ft).
  • In the late afternoon, we enjoy a warm coffee or coca tea while appreciating the landscape.

DAY 4: Llamacorral (3,760 m / 12,335 ft )– Cashapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft) – Huaraz (3,052 m / 10,013 ft)

Hiking time: 3 hours

  • We descend through the Santa Cruz ravine until we reach the picturesque village of Cashapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft). We'll have lunch in this charming village, and then board our private vehicle for the return trip to Huaraz in complete comfort. We'll arrive back in Huaraz around 4:00 pm.
  • Meals: B,S,L
