Located just a few kilometers east of Huaraz, Laguna Churup is one of the most beautiful and popular lakes in the Huascarán National Park. Sitting at an altitude of 4,450 meters above sea level, it is surrounded by breathtaking peaks, including the Churup Mountain (5,495 m), whose snowcapped summit reflects perfectly on the lagoon’s deep turquoise waters.
The hike to the lagoon is a true adventure. The trail combines mountain paths, stone steps, and even a short section with ropes that adds a touch of excitement. Along the way, hikers enjoy panoramic views of the Cordillera Blanca, high-Andean vegetation, and the soothing sound of streams flowing down from the glaciers.
Upon arrival, visitors are rewarded with a peaceful and stunning landscape and a crystal clear lake framed by rocky cliffs, blue skies, and snow-covered mountains. It’s the perfect spot to rest, take photos, enjoy your box lunch, and simply connect with nature.
A visit to Laguna Churup is an unforgettable experience that blends adventure, beauty, and serenity, ideal for those looking to explore the true essence of the Andes and the magic of the Peruvian highlands.
