The Huayllay National Sanctuary, located in Pasco at over 4,100 meters above sea level, is home to the famous Stone Forest of Huayllay, one of the largest and most impressive in South America. Covering more than 6,800 hectares, it features volcanic rock formations shaped by nature into figures that resemble animals, people, and mythical beings. Beyond its unique geology, the sanctuary protects high Andean ecosystems with wetlands, native queñua forests, and remarkable wildlife including vicuñas, deer, vizcachas, and more than 150 bird species.
In addition to its natural wonders, Huayllay preserves more than 500 ancient rock paintings that reflect the deep cultural heritage of the Andes. Visitors can explore its 11 tourist circuits designed for hiking, climbing, and photography, while also enjoying hot springs, lagoons, and panoramic landscapes. A true natural and cultural treasure, Huayllay invites travelers to live an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Peruvian highlands.

TRAVEL PROGRAM
The experience begins at 7:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in Huánuco. We will travel about 150 km toward the Pasco region, crossing diverse landscapes from tropical valleys to the high Andean mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop at the Nudo de Pasco and the Pampa de Junín, perfect spots to enjoy breathtaking views and take memorable photos.
At the Huayllay National Sanctuary (4,310 m.a.s.l.), we’ll hike one of its circuits, exploring more than 4,000 volcanic rock formations sculpted by nature millions of years ago, along with ancient rock paintings and archaeological remains. Iconic figures such as the elephant, alpaca, cobra, and condor will make this adventure truly unique.
After the hike, we’ll relax in the Huayllay hot springs, whose volcanic waters are ideal for relieving fatigue and revitalizing the body. On the way back, we’ll stop at a local restaurant to taste traditional Peruvian cuisine (lunch not included). We will return to Huánuco around 7:00 p.m., dropping you off at your hotel.
