Mini Trek Huayhuash

Considered one of the best treks in Peru and ideal for those who do not have much time to explore the mountains, but still want to enjoy the impressive beauty of the Andes, the flora, fauna, and turquoise lagoons. In this trek, you will be able to observe the 3 lagoons named Gangrajanca, Siula, and Quesillococha, and the snow-capped peaks such as Jirishanca Grande (6,095 m), Jirishanca Chico (5,446 m), Yerupajá Grande (6,635 m) Yerupaja Chico (6,121 m), Siula Grande (6,344 m) and Siula Chico (5,680m), making this trek an unforgettable experience that will remain in the memory of all those who visit it.

TRAVEL PROGRAM

Day 1: Drive from Huánuco to Queropalca, trek Carhuacocha Lake (4,138 m)

Trekking 4 hours

  • Today we get our first glimpses of the range, and we will pass different towns such as Huarin, Baños, and Santa Rosa. After around 4 hours of driving, we will arrive at Queropalca town around 8:00 am, where our “arrieros” (muleteers) and “burros” (donkeys) will be waiting. After breakfast, we will depart from Queropalca to the Carhuacocha lake at 4,138 meters above sea level, the time to reach the first trekking camp will be approximately 3 hours. In the Carhuacocha camp, we will enjoy the impressive views of the most important snow-capped mountains such as Jirishanca Grande (6,095 m), Jirishanca Chico (5,446 m), Yerupajá Grande (6,635 m) Yerupaja Chico (6,121 m), Siula Grande (6,344 m) and Siula Chico (5,680 m).
  • In the later afternoon, we will enjoy a hot coffee or coca tea while observing the landscapes.

Day 2: Trek from Carhuacocha Lake (4,138 m) to Siula Viewpoint (4500 m), Carhuacocha

Trekking 6 hours (roundtrip)

  • Today we trek for around 6 hours round trip. After breakfast, we will begin the trek to the Siula viewpoint along a well-marked path, walk near the Siulá snow-capped mountain, and appreciate its spectacular perennial glaciers. Then, we will walk through the Gagrajanca, Siulá, and Quesillococha lakes.
  • In the later afternoon, we will enjoy a hot coffee or coca tea while observing the landscapes.
  • Overnight at the campsite.

Day 3: Trek from Carhuacocha Lake to Queropalca, drive to Huánuco

Trekking 3 hours

  • Today we will walk all the way down through beautiful grazing pampas and as we go down we will find Andean potato crops and peasants harvesting. Arrived at the town of Queropalca, we will go to the hot water springs. After lunch, we make our way by private vehicle to transfer to Huánuco city.
  • Meals: B, L
