Participants will experience an exciting adventure doing rappelling on the natural rock walls of Pillco Mozo, Huánuco. They will start with a brief safety and equipment orientation, followed by a hike to the descent area. TRAVEL PROGRAM
At 8:00 a.m., we set out on a full-day adventure heading north through the Callejón de Huaylas toward the district of Marcará. From there, we take a turn east and begin to climb into the Andes, passing through traditional villages such as the community of Vicos, known for its strong cultural roots and deep connection with the land. The road offers incredible views of the valley and the snow-covered peaks in the distance, giving us a true taste of rural life in the mountains.
As we continue, we enter the Huascarán National Park, following the path into the beautiful Paqcharuri Valley, also called the “valley of waterfalls.” The landscape becomes more lush and alive with native forests, streams, and the constant sound of falling water guide us toward one of Áncash’s hidden treasures: the Rocutuyoc Lagoon.
The lagoon greets us with waters that change from blue to emerald as the sunlight shifts across the valley. From this peaceful spot, we enjoy an unforgettable view of the towering peaks Paccharaju, Bayoraju, Copa Norte, Vicos, and Akilpo, all part of the grand Cordillera Blanca.
We continue with a 40-minute hike around the lagoon, following a quiet path that leads us to the Frozen Lagoon and the nearby glacier, where the scenery feels almost untouched by time.
On the way back, we stop to explore the Llamaruri rock paintings, a glimpse into the past lives of ancient Andean peoples, and visit the Paqcharuri Waterfall, a refreshing stop that perfectly closes this day of discovery.
We return to Huaraz around 6:00 p.m., carrying unforgettable memories of nature, culture, and the magic of the Andes.
